    CAIRO, May 31 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa discussed here Tuesday with a visiting Spanish parliamentary delegation the latest developments in the region.

    An Arab League statement said that Moussa praised the role of the Union for the Mediterranean with regard to its cooperation with the Arab states.

    The two sides also discussed the security situation in the region.

    Seems the MU it isn't dead yet, progressing behind the scenes!

    A Moroccan was just chosen Secretary General of the MU..to take office July 1/11.

    KJChad private meetings in Morocco over a 4 day period the beginning of May just prior to the Moroccan being chosen to head up the MU.

    The AL's Moussa just met with a Spanish delegation praising the MU re: its co-operation with the AL.

    Moussa recently received the Palestinian Star.

    Both the AL and Spain are calling for a PA State with 67 borders... AL in Sept, Spain before Sept. according to articles below.

    Seems Spain and the Arab League have a shared agenda re: a PA State....and MU ties!

    Moroccan diplomat named as new Secretary General of Union for the Mediterranean

    Moroccan diplomat Youssef Amrani has been appointed as the new Secretary General of the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), a position vacant since the resignation in January of Jordanian Ahmed Massa'deh.

    A press release said the decision was made by consensus in line with the statutes of the institution. Mr. Amrani is expected to take office on 1 July 2011.

    DOHA, May 28 (Reuters) - The Arab League decided on Saturday to seek full U.N. membership for a Palestinian state in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, with East Jerusalem as its capital, ignoring opposition from the United States and Israel.

    The Arab League’s peace process committee, meeting in Doha, said it would request membership for the state of Palestine at the U.N. General Assembly’s meeting in New York in September.

    "The committee decided to go to the United Nations to request full membership for Palestine on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital," it said in a statement

    The Palestinian Authority announced on Thursday that Spain has decided to recognize a Palestinian state along the 1967 lines before September. A spanish diplomat told Palestinian negotiator Nabil Shaath that Spain would support making the state of Palestine a UN member.

      I've been going through your posts. lol
      I must admit I'm getting curious as it is June when the meeting was to be held. July 1st is not far away
      Moroccan diplomat named as new Secretary General of Union for the Mediterranean
      And there are reports of Moroccan riots starting.
      Throw into the mix Palestinians and Israel.
