The World Vs. God's Word - Hal Lindsey

This covenant inextricably binds the Israelites with the land he swore an oath to give to them forever. All of God's future blessings are woven together with His people being in specific places in the Land. The fate of our present world is now caught up in this great predicted drama.

God predicted through many prophets that the Israelites would be uprooted and scattered from their promised land because of sin. Moses predicted two great destructions and dispersion of the Israel from the because of their failure to obey Him. Moses predicted that the second judgment would be extremely severe and last for a long time. He wrote:

"It shall come about that as the Lord delighted over you to prosper you, and multiply you, so the Lord will delight over you to make you perish and destroy you; and you will be torn from the land where you are entering to possess it. Moreover, the Lord will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other end of the earth; and there you shall serve other gods, wood and stone, which you or your fathers have not known. Among those nations you shall find no rest, and there will be no resting place for the sole of your foot; but there the Lord will give you a trembling heart, failing of eyes, and despair of soul. So your life shall hang in doubt before you; and you will be in dread night and day, and shall have no assurance of your life." (Deuteronomy 28:63-66 NAS)

This second dispersion fell upon those who had returned from the Babylonian destruction and reestablished the Nation in the land. The Romans brought this Judgment in AD 70. It lasted until May of 1948.

But God foresaw all of this. He promised to bring them back to the Promised Land and make them a nation again. The prophecies tie this event to the days shortly before the return of the Messiah to set up the Kingdom He promised them.

Ezekiel predicted this return in the last days:

For thus says the Lord God, "I will also do with you as you have done, you who have despised the oath by breaking the covenant. Nevertheless, I will remember My covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you. Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed when you receive your sisters, both your older and your younger; and I will give them to you as daughters, but not because of your covenant. Thus I will establish My covenant with you, and you shall know that I am the Lord, so that you may remember and be ashamed and never open your mouth anymore because of your humiliation, when I have forgiven you FOR ALL THAT YOU HAVE DONE," the Lord God declares. (Ezekiel 16:59-63 NAS)

Note God swears He will do this despite all their failures. Ezekiel makes it clear that God will do this even though they have utterly failed and do not deserve it:

Therefore say to the house of Israel, "Thus says the Lord God, It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am about to act, but for My holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you went. I will vindicate the holiness of My great name which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst. Then the nations will know that I am the Lord," declares the Lord God, "when I prove Myself holy among you in their sight. "For I will take you from the nations, gather you from all the lands and bring you into your own land. (Ezekiel 36:22-24 NAS)

You see, God's Word is at stake. He cannot break His Word. This is why He is doing all of this, not because of Israel's merit.

Note God declares that after He establishes them in their land, He will cleanse them of their sins.

Isaiah prophesied of this second return of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob's descendants:

Then it will happen on that day that the Lord Will again recover the SECOND TIME with His hand The remnant of His people, who will remain, From Assyria, Egypt, Pathros, Cush, Elam, Shinar, Hamath, And from the islands [continents] of the sea. And He will lift up a standard for the nations And assemble the banished ones of Israel, And will gather the dispersed of Judah From the four corners of the earth. (Isaiah 11:11-12 NAS)

This second restoration of the nation began in 1948.

GOD also forewarned through Zechariah of the global turmoil Israel's return would cause the whole world, particularly over their claim to Jerusalem:

"Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it." (Zechariah 12:2-3 NKJ)

Even though all nations will go to war over Israel's claim to Jerusalem, God's covenant with His people will prevail. It is then that Israel's true Messiah, Jesus, will defend them:

"Behold, the day of the Lord is coming, And your spoil will be divided in your midst. For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; The city shall be taken, The houses rifled, And the women ravished. Half of the city shall go into captivity, But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then the Lord will go forth And fight against those nations, As He fights in the day of battle." (Zechariah 14:1-3 NKJ)

I praise God that we are seeing His faithfulness demonstrated before our very eyes. As a Christian, this assures me that God will also keep His word to the one who receives Jesus Christ and His pardon by faith today. For we are promised that we will be miraculously snatched out of this world; changed instantly from mortal to immortal and taken to be with Him while the world tries to dispute His Word to Israel in a global holocaust.

The time is at hand. All of the predicted events that begin this epic time are here now. Are you ready?
