The End of MWM

Greetings all,

Letting everyone know that after somewhere around 28 years, when our annual hosting expires on 08/24/2025, Millennium Weekend Ministries we will not be renewing. Lack of interest for the past many years makes it clear to Esther and me that it does not make any sense to continue to keep the site running.

Many thanks to the handful of folks that have stuck it out with us. Perhaps very soon we shall all meet when we hear the glorious voice of our Savior calling us home to the Father's house. Certainly any who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ alone for their salvation, repenting with a "broken and contrite heart" (Ps 34:18 and 51:17) will find mercy and will indeed be caught up together to meet our Savior in the air.

What a glorious day that will be.

In Christ alone,
Andy

  • The Wrath of God

I just recently finished reading these sermons by John MacArthur.
I found them to be extremely informative and eye-opening.

We often hear about how God loves us, and it's true, but I don't think anyone can truly appreciate the depth of his love, without examining the depth of his wrath.
These are long, but like I said, extremely informative.
I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did.

    Bro...or Sis...

I cannot more highly recommend A.W Tozer's "Knowledge of the Holy" enough. I already mentioned it once today somewhere on this board.

To highlight one thing Tozer said... paraphrased.... that if we believe in God then we have to believe in all of God. To not believe in one part of God you are not believing in all of God. In essence, you are not belieiving in God, you are just believing an image of God created in your own imagination... which is Idolatry. He said that any attribute we give God or deny God that has not been revealed to us by His word, is making God into something he is not...and again, thats Idolatry.

We have to believe in all of God. The book goes into detail about all of God's attributes...his love, mercy, justice, goodness, self-existence (just a few) and how they are all wrapped up in each other.

    Its amazing.

      MTC,
It's "Bro", and you are correct.
I'm going to have to order a copy of Tozer's book, it sounds good.

I'm sure that many of us have noticed the tendency for many to focus on God's love, and to be sure, it's a wonderful aspect of him to behold.
However, focusing all of the attention on his love and leaving out the other parts seriously diminishes his deity.
How many times have we heard "A God of love would never send one of his creatures to Hell" or, "God is love, and it's okay for a man to love another man" (Eros, not philio) and the list goes on.

Tozer says that the biggest foundation to sin is having a wrong image of God. When we have a wrong image of God its much easier to take Him off of his throne and place ourselves there.

        Bro

Very good book. It can be a difficult read if you don't read much just because of his style of writing. The theology isn't difficult...but you can tell he is a guy who breathed the KJV Bible

          Re: The Wrath of God

Too many people want to think only that "God is love" and not that He is Holy and demands perfection. There is a loss of understanding of why Jesus had to die. People do not like to hear about God's wrath, only that He is love and about grace. Those are true, but we can cheapen His grace when we fail to realize the sacrifice Christ made.

As it has been pointed out...
The angels around His throne do not cry out "love, love love", but "Holy Holy Holy"

            and..

you're not truly astounded by His love unless you understand His holiness.

If anyone wants to do a study on the the character and get to know God. Try the book-study by Kay Arthur "Lord I Want to Know YOU"---It literally changed my life. To know God by all His names having studied the scriptures gave me deep insight into knowing Him and understanding scripture esp. the verse "The Namd of the LORD is a strong tower. The righteous run into it and are safe" . Why are we safe? Because God by the very nature of being God is all sufficient . He revealed His names to Israel as he revealed His character and met their needs.

              Go Deep----KNow God!
