The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers can proceed with plans to burst a Mississippi River levee and flood Missouri farmland in an effort to prevent floods in upriver towns, an appeals court said.

Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster yesterday asked the U.S. Court of Appeals in St. Louis for an emergency stay after the Army Corps said it was preparing to detonate floodgates near Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to lower the flood stage on the river after a week of heavy rain.

Entire town of Cairo, Ill. evacuated by massive flood threat; Ohio River surges after record rains

Childs said he ordered the evacuation due to a swelling "sand boil" – an ominous red flag that signals a possible levee breech.

This is a real scary situation. Blow the levee up and release some of the water which will save a town and put farmers out of business. Top soil is just a very minute layer of ground that holds all the nutrients. Once that is gone it's pretty much gone.

So sad to see all this happening. Just another birth pain we are experiencing.

Even as the legal fight was playing out, General Walsh was directing the two barges stationed at a nearby staging area to prepare to move into the final position from which crews could begin injecting the levees with 265 tons of explosives to blast the earthen structure.

I have no knowledge of these matters by any means but that sounds like overkill to me.

where they are planning to do this - from the 1st. article

Earlier this week, the Army Corps began moving barges into position to burst levees at Birds Point-New Madrid. The agency said on April 26 that it hadn't made a final decision to blow the levee.
My concern is if this will cause a EQ.

I suspect it won't/can't trigger an earthquake but I am no seismologist.

I know that a "very small" nuke, such as used in Japan; twice, likely wouldn't and they were 15 kiloton devices; 56+ times as much as what they're using here. 265 tons though is no small matter. I hope they have video of it.

Too bad all this even needs to be ..

The church is on Earth to save souls from a lost world, not to save the world from lost souls.

Man learns about history, not from history. To learn from history requires wisdom. Cut off from God, he has none, so history repeats; no new thing under the sun.

I saw ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken - dylan

Psalms 122:8 For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.

According to the weather report last night this area is supposed to be hit hard with another big rain storm the next few days. I have a feeling they will go ahead with exploding the levee.

They did it not long ago, here's the only video I have found so far. In the dark so you don't see much.
