I still think it could be a massive, 9.0 earthquake that could be what God uses to lay the city/region to utter waste. I understand there's unrest and it COULD be a war that does it...I just like to think of God as much bigger than the obvious.

I have to admit, I tend to lean that way myself Andy. Not so much that it would be an earthquake or whatever but that it will clearly be God's hand.
In the past we have seen God work through man. But the period we are entering is very different from anything the world has ever seen.
The Bible seems to indicate it will become very obvious that it is a battle between God and Satan long before our Lord's return to finish the job.

You know, sister, you bring up an excellent point that I've given a lot of thought to. Several times within prophetic scripture God says He will do such-and-such, "So that the nations may know that I am the LORD God" or something similiar. As I've meditated on that I've often wondered if it means that EVENTUALLY (at the end of time) God will reveal to the unbelievers that all this time it was Him that was 'trying' to get their attention and then they'll know or .. will it be as you said: Something OBVIOUS that God is doing.

I like dwelling on the specific wording of scripture...

This is one of many things that come to mind when I think about it.
The importance of two witnesses to God when passing judgements and warnings.


Deuteronomy 17:6
On the testimony of two or three witnesses a person is to be put to death, but no one is to be put to death on the testimony of only one witness.

We can guess that is what the two witnesses are about and the world obviously know as well and is only happy when they are killed.

But there are also verses where the people themselves lift their fist and curse God. Showing full knowledge of His existence and who they blame.
Plus the the ones you mentioned where God clearly states

At least to me the world is very aware the battle is between God and the AC/Satan. Which could also explain why they attempt to kill off anyone who won't bow to the AC. To them our God is the source of their misery and not their rebellous sin nature.

Three: Represents perfect witness

God the Father, Son, Spirit - perfect witness to the Oneness of God.

A mystery we'll enjoy learning about all throughout eternity.

For a long time no one was sure if the Isaiah 17 and Ezekiel 38/39 wars might be the same event.

What with the radical kill crazy Moslems about to gain power all across the middle east it looks like the Isaiah 17 war is about to happen and it does seem that there is a period of time between the Isaiah 17 war and the "peace and safety" before the GOG/ Magog war of Ezekiel 38/39........

Because the RESTRAINER is taken out and the church indwelt by him in the rapture. Times will very much be like OT times. God will show Himself like He did in OT times with great miracles , signs and wonders---by faith people will be saved but the church age is over so they will be looking back to the cross as Abraham believed God and looked forward to the cross. This will be a time for Israel's promises to be fulfilled and Gentiles will come on their coat tails as each will make a decision in the Time of Jacob's trouble.

I wonder too whether God will just be telling the foaming nations---shut up!--and know that I AM God.

I agree it does seem it will be a time very close to OT for Israel but the rest of the world will also be very aware of our God.
During the time of two witnesses there is a power from God that seems to be keeping the AC and his forces from touching the Temple or the two witnesses for the appointed time the two witnesses are given.
( I believe it will extend to all of Israel as it will be very OT but also a very exceptional time)
It would seem when their appointed time comes to an end and the AC enters the Temple the wrath of God then is fully released.
