  • Iran and the ME/Arab world

This article is AP but I'm sure we are going to start to see more articles. The article discusses the drastic changes in the ME/Arab world. Not the change in the citizens but the major change in attitudes of the leadership in the ME that appears to be evolving. These changes have also affected their attitude about Iran.

Standing Up to Iran: Gulf Alliance Flexes Its Muscles
Pilots winging over raging Libyan battlefields in Mirage and F-16 fighter jets. A convoy of troops and tanks rumbling to the aid of an embattled partner. Defiant words for a regional bully bent on meddling in domestic affairs.

These are just some of the hallmarks of the new-look Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) - the bloc of six Arab nations that is shedding its image as a somnolent, oil-rich cartel and propelling itself forward in the role of hands-on military campaigner in the uprisings that are reshaping the region. It has already intervened - mainly with member Saudi Arabia's troops - in the rebellion in GCC compatriot Bahrain. This is the GCC 2.0 and the world, and most especially Iran, is watching.

It seems there is a new powerhouse and attitude in the ME. There were signs of it in the "Riots" thread. The ME countries were learning to use their strength and weapons and not depend on others. But the AP article is still the one to read imvho.
They seem determined to take on Iran.

      The NWO is taking shape.

Hmm I guess we shouldn't be surprised by the fact Egypt is taking a slightly different view.
Egypt says Arab identity of Gulf a 'red line'
Egypt said on Wednesday Gulf states' Arab identity is a "red line" after they accused Iran of trying to destabilise Bahrain, while praising a Saudi-led force that quelled pro-democracy protests there.

In a statement, Egypt's foreign minister Nabil al-Arabi said "the stability and Arabhood of the Arab Gulf countries is a red line against which Egypt rejects any trespass."
