According to Fox News last night the tsunami warning was put out because of what they thought was an earthquake recorded on the richter scale. What they discovered was the explosion at the nuclear plant effected the richter scale.

Re: Strong earthquake shakes Japan (7.9)
It's the local ABC affiliate .. they just repeated about the tsunami warning and added that they're being told it could be 10 feet high .. about 3 meters.
They also just mentioned that second nuke explosion.

So I'm watching this guy on Fox News state "in the last 10,000 years we've had 40 of these major earthquakes, the last one in the 1700's, we are due for one."
Really? You were alive back then? I get that the earthquake was recorded in the 1700's, we have access to that data. However, 10,000 years ago?
C'mon man, you say this with a straight face?

I have no clue as to what is connected to what inside the earth, but I can't help wondering if all the seismic activity in the South part of the U.S., in particular, Arkansas, in the past few weeks, is related?
It is all one planet after all ...

Tsunami warning center raises magnitude of Japan quake to 9.1
The Japan earthquake was the fourth most powerful ever recorded with a magnitude of 9.1, twice more powerful than the initial estimate of 8.9, Gerard Fryer, geophysicist of the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, said this morning.
Three others that were more powerful since the late 1800s when seismometers started measuring ground motions were in 9.5 in Chile in 1960, 9.2 in Alaska in 1964 and 9.1 in Sumatra in 2004, according to Fryer.

A seven-meter-high tsunami killed more than a thousand as it engulfed towns on the northern coast today.
Now millions are off the grid and will be for weeks or months. A nuclear power station threatens to go critical.
