Oxygen depletion? I can believe that based on the number of dead fish in those photos ... but what concentrated them in the first place that oxygen depletion could happen? Red tides happen all the time .. but not fish dying in numbers like that.

I was just looking at the article. Redondo Beach is only 40 or so miles north of where I live...

I heard somewhere that dead fish on a large scale is a sign of impending earthquakes? True or false?

My co-worker is a geology student and said, "Because of all the gases that are released prior to an earthquake" but he wasn't sure if that's true and/or if that would kill that many fish. That was just the first thing that came to his mind when I read what you wrote, Rebekah.

Hi Rebekah, I am doing an internet search of your question, lol. I thought I had heard the same thing.

So far, this is all that I have found about animals, fish and such. Here's the link, I'm afraid to post any of the content because of copyright rules which I really don't understand to well, lol.

My aunt Hilda in Maine said they are only catching maybe one haddock per coastal fishing trip when years ago you could bring back a boatload....

here in San Diego coastal fishing is pretty much gone....... over fishing and the city dumping its "treated sewage" 7 miles off shore has ended the fishing......

you may occasionally catch something, but even the mackeral have disappeared over the last several years...........

Man is sooo wise. Not. Sometimes I wonder if the U.S. is any smarter, for all it's "knowledge", than some third world countries where they may do things like eliminate waste uphill from water supplies.
