  • So Unsustainable Debt is the Means to "Growth?"

No wonder this world's economics is going down a hole.

Read this for sort of a laugh.

    Issachar
The church is on Earth to save souls from a lost world, not to save the world from lost souls.

Man learns about history, not from history. To learn from history requires wisdom. Cut off from God, he has none, so history repeats; no new thing under the sun.

Psalms 122:8 For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.

It's the old false notion that government can and should create "jobs." Yes, there needs to be people in government. Yes, they need to be paid for that because just like anyone else, they need to pay bills and buy food, clothing and shelter. But the idea of government paying non-government folk for labor is not what government should be about. Well, yes, some .. they need to hire electricians, plumbers, carpenters, etc. to work on the government buildings, but non-government people and property is best served by private enterprise.

Something I suggested long ago, was to let taxes be on a voluntary basis. Some would say .. "But no one would pay taxes." Maybe ... until they had no roads to drive on, no mail (See U.S. Constitution; Article I; Sec.8; clause 7), no national defense (See U.S. Constitution; Preamble, Article I; Sec.8; clause 1), etc. Some sort of respectful, community peer pressure should take care of laziness. Whatever ... we won't be going there.

How times change. How attitudes and thinking change. God and His ways are absolute. Truth is absolute. The "world" is fickle.

Oh I imagine that the "hippies" of the world would expect that the "rich" ones should pay for everything. The only problem is that all of sudden 30 to 50 thousand dollor income will suddenly be rich!!!! And there we will be again.

I heard on the radio today that some sort of fiscal deadline is up on March 4th. The Democrats want to extend it to March .. I think the 18th. The Republicans will only say ok if there are 4 billion in cuts included in the extension. The U.S. borrows at least 6 billion every day. What it can't borrow, it prints which is borrowing from the future generations.

The body of Christ, an holy nation (1 Peter 2:9), is a good place to be.

some time ago I caught the homosexual congressman from Massachusetts saying on TV that robbing money from the Social Security trust fund was OK because the congress put IOU's from congress in place of the money they stole..........

Barney Frank, I think......... Anyway he said its the same as borrowing money from the bank and that congress would just pay back the money if it was ever needed ...........

Its us that are going to have to pay the money back
Stealing money from the Social Security fund started with the Johnson administration and his "Great Society"
            program............

Right. If they can "just pay back the money if it was ever needed", why not just pay it back now? If they can do that, it means they have it. If they have it, spend it on whatever and just don't borrow from the SS fund. Ha-ha .. riiiight ..

I think the "pay as you go" thing is best for all, but it will never be done. In fact, now it can't be done even if they wanted to. That is .. Congress comes up with spending bills .. let them come up with any amount they want for any thing they want for the budget. BUT .. before they assign any funds to the budget, tell the 100 million (arbitrarily picked number but hopefully in the ball park) American taxpayers, "Here is how much we will spend this fiscal year. It is over current revenue by one trillion dollars so we either need to raise each of your taxes this fiscal year by $10,000 or cut out some stuff from our proposed spending bills." Not too many are going to say, "Ok, we can pay that because we just love everything in your proposed budget." Nope. They'll be screaming, "NO WAY!!"

So how do they decide what to cut, how much to cut the things that they decide to cut .. I guess the Congressmen could ask their constituency if they like paying 30 million dollars to study some frogs. The people might say, "Ya sure. I'd like to help pay for that." or they might say, "Let whomever is interested in those things pay for their own study of the frogs. In fact, get some folks that have learning about these frogs as a personal interest, do the study for free. There are all sorts of interest groups that do that sort of thing all the time. Just think .. no ... zero, overhead cost.

Issachar, thinks that there is a large gap between how things are and how things ought to be ..
