Egyptian officials: Iran warships to cross Suez Canal on Monday
Israel is following the movement of the warships closely, although it does not believe the Iranian vessels have hostile intentions toward Israel.

Netanyahu: Iran exploiting unrest to widen its Mideast influence
"We can see what an unstable region we live in, an area in which Iran is trying to take advantage of the situation that has arisen and broaden its influence by transferring two warships via the Suez Canal," he said in public remarks to his cabinet.
Israel believes the Egyptians had no choice but to allow the ships to pass through the Suez Canal, because the treaty to which it is a signatory obliges it to allow free passage through the waterway.

Re: Israel: Iran war ships to transit Suez for Syria

You're welcome to disagree with me, M, but I would ask - why would Iran want to sail two warships right into the Med. Sea? The way I see it there can be only a few options. One, to easily launch missiles into any part of Israel and have them land within seconds of launching (no time to respond or defend against such an immediate attack). Two, to bring this huge cache of weapons (including long-range missiles) to Lebanon so the Hezbollah may use these in their next missile attack against Israel (noteworthy is the caliber of these missiles - long-range, guided - very deadly). These could also strike Israel right at their heart..both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Third, to taunt Israel into making the first strike on them.

Now I am totally open to other options or opinions on why Iran would pull such a stunt like this, at a time like this. Egypt is thrown into chaos, Mubarak is gone - and instantly Iran asks permission to sail these two ships onto Israel's doorstep...and is given that permission. Also we need to remember that their President believes in the 12th Imam coming on the heels of the worst world-wide chaos known to man (since perhaps the Flood).

What is Israel to do, here? Seems again they only have a few options (which I outlined in the earlier post - no need to repeat it). Do you see them having other choices?

Re: Israel: Iran war ships to transit Suez for Syria

          Hi Andy
I hope you don't mind if I take a stab at it.
By no means am I saying you are wrong but I'm also not saying M is wrong.
Iran is desperate right now. I suspect the reason it has been off and on is because it isn't having the desired effect the Iranians were looking for.
Everyone in the ME is busy overthrowing their governments and fighting for democracy/freedom. No one to impress.
Iran doesn't have to send a war ship and a supply ship when other methods have worked so nicely in the past.
They were hoping it would be good PR for their beliefs but it isn't working. So they keep saying we are going in, then not doing it. So they can announce it again.

          Just pondering...
When I listen to the hearts of those fighting I hear one common thing, the spirit of fear broke. They found themselves suddenly having courage and the belief of we can do this. The spirit of oppression lifted???
If so that must have been one incredible spiritual battle. The Angelic guards that must be there.

Looking for God's hand and plan in all this.
Praise God He is still in control and following His plan!

US warships box in Iranian flotilla, delay Suez passage

By positioning the Enterprise opposite Iran's 12th Flotilla at the Red Sea entrance to the Suez Canal on Feb. 17 Washington has confronted Tehran with a hard dilemma, more....

Re: Israel: Iran war ships to transit Suez for Syria

I've said it before but what I find most interesting about the idea the US has boxed in the Iran ships is
a warning to meddlers to keep their hands off the revolutions, uprisings and protests sweeping Arab nations
That statement can be saying a whole lotta stuff.

Seems the One World Government has no place for unflexible dictators that take orders from no one.

That would be my guess as well. They really do believe they are building Utopia. They have also learned war doesn't work. Hence the USSR like overthrows.

Iranian warships dock Syria; NATO monitoring situation

NATO said it was monitoring the two Iranian ships that traveled through the Suez Canal before sailing past Israel on their way to Syria on Wednesday, AFP reported.

A spokesperson for the military alliance seemed to play down its monitoring of the Islamic Republic's warships, however, saying that "we follow these two Iranian warships with as much interest as we do any other warship in the region," according to the report.

Iran ships to return via Suez Canal, says official
                          http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20110302/...Fuc2hpcHN0b3I-

"Tomorrow (Thursday), the Iranian ships will cross the canal with the convoy starting in the north from the Mediterranean," a canal official, who asked not to be named, told Reuters, adding that they would head through the canal on Thursday morning.
I guess they are going home.

And I guess we'll some day find out what they off-loaded to Syria (most likely when the Hez-Bullies use them against Israel).

Un-pinning this thread...I find myself shocked nothing came of this one.
