    The eruption, which peaked at 0156 UT on Feb. 15th, registered X2 on the Richter scale of solar flares ( http://spaceweather.com/glossary/flareclasses.html )...the explosion also hurled a coronal mass ejection (CME) in our direction.... Geomagnetic storms are possible when the CME arrives 36 to 48 hours hence. Stay tuned for updates.

    Hey Boston. Thanks so much for posting this material. My background study in university and graduate school was Physics, with a couple of senior Astronomy courses in the mix. I love this stuff!!!

      Dang! Wish I were in Finland right now to see the Aurora Borealis.
