  • solar flares

Hi guys...sorry if this is on another thread already, but I have a question...I seem to recall that the major solar flares are supposedly affecting our weather adversely, as in earthquakes following soon after, or large hurricanes, etc. Can anyone tell me if this is true?? If so, what do you make of the seven major solar flares we are having now???

    Thanks!!!

    Re: solar flares

    Fiddler,

The current solar flares have not (yet) been aimed at the earth, but rather off in other directions. The sunspot that is generating them is rotating around, and very well might spit some stuff in our direction this week. If so, there will be at the least, some disruption in radio signals, cell phones, etc., and auroral displays, depending upon how powerful the solar flares might be.

Yes, there is some thought that solar flares influence things like global temperatures, but I don't think I've ever read any really solid scientific EVIDENCE that they have a direct causal relation to the weather. Certainly I don't think that anybody has ever credibly demonstrated that solar flares cause hurricanes, for instance. Similarly, whether solar flares cause earthquakes would be a topic of a very lively, and likely totallly unproductive, discussion.

Note, however, that the above is a completely separate discussion from whether solar flares, etc. might be used by God as judgements against the earth.

        Re: solar flares

have you noticed that by now the sun is susposed to be in a quiet phase
in its 7 year cycle ??? if this cycle continues and this is the suns new quiet phase, what do you think is going to happen in 3 1/2 years when the sun is in its most active part of its cycle again ?

it will possibly burn men with fire seems i've read about that before

this puts the beginning of the tribulation very soon.....

          Re: solar flares

The solar cycle is eleven years, not seven. See http://www.oulu.fi/~spaceweb/textbook/cycle.html for a good explanation.
