The End of MWM

Greetings all,

Letting everyone know that after somewhere around 28 years, when our annual hosting expires on 08/24/2025, Millennium Weekend Ministries we will not be renewing. Lack of interest for the past many years makes it clear to Esther and me that it does not make any sense to continue to keep the site running.

Many thanks to the handful of folks that have stuck it out with us. Perhaps very soon we shall all meet when we hear the glorious voice of our Savior calling us home to the Father's house. Certainly any who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ alone for their salvation, repenting with a "broken and contrite heart" (Ps 34:18 and 51:17) will find mercy and will indeed be caught up together to meet our Savior in the air.

What a glorious day that will be.

In Christ alone,
Andy

  • Positive Israeli media focus on Messianic Jews

Israel's largest daily newspaper, Yediot Ahronot, ran a feature story on Messianic Jews in Israel in its weekly magazine insert last week.
As with most other media coverage of Messianic Israelis of late, the article was generally positive.

I believe it was Joel Rosenberg that noted this last week, in his blog. Probably was citing the same article. Fascinating!

Good article, although this part bothers me a bit,
Now he performs all of the Jewish Orthodox rites but, he says, as he sees them. Interter perceives Messianic Jews as the followers of first-century Jews who dispersed after the destruction of the second temple, and Christianity as the erroneous development of the messianic faith among non-Jews. "They were wrong and we must now lead the movement to fix this mistake," he says. "It is our global mission."
He calls Gentile Christianity a 'mistake', sure, it went off-track from the original 1st century messianic movement, but that was to attract non-Jewish converts, Id hardly call it a mistake.

I hope everyone will understand when I say "I find it fascinating." I certainly don't worry about it.
This is how I see it and yes others see it totally differently!
Two thousand years ago our Lord had been resurrected and the Holy Spirit sent. The largest body of what we call Christianity today was Jewish and in Israel. The leaders were headquartered in Jerusalem.
We know from our Bible they still went to the synagogue and did their Jewish requirements.
Then Paul got called to reach the gentiles.
The leaders in Jerusalem heard what he was preaching. As a Jewish believer he was in Jerusalem doing his Jewish requirements(That had to be somewhat confusing for the gentile converts of the time and we see examples of the confusion in the Bible. They understood the headquarters were in Jerusalem and very Jewish yet...)He was called before the leaders in Jerusalem and asked him to explain himself.
Well, we know their answer from the Bible.
What is fascinating???? Here we are again.
But this time the gentile period is quickly coming to a close and the Jewish one re emerging.

It makes total sense that question/thought would arise again.

Re: Positive Israeli media focus on Messianic Jews

The final split between the Jews and Jewish Christianity came in the 135 AD revolt against Rome........... The revolutionaries claimed that their leader was the long awaited Messiah..... this caused the Messianic Jews to refuse to support the insurrection against Rome.........

since that time Jewish leaders have taught that A Jew has to choose between being a Jew or believing in Jesus

For many centuries, a Jew who came to believe that Jesus is the Messiah was declared dead by his/ her family and a funeral was held for them.

Perhaps "the erroneous development of the messianic faith among non-Jews" means how the church (as in denominations, cults, clubs, and whatnot) has developed through the ages.
