Re: we need a hymn right now
thanks Narnia: I just love hymns! They are like the baton taht the generations before pass on. Songs of struggle and stregth in faith. The razzle dazzle songs or choruses may have their place but they dont have the age to age permanence of those hymns of old--IMO

"I Know Who Holds Tomorrow"
by Ira F. Stanphill
I don't know about tomorrow; I just live from day to day.
I don't borrow from its sunshine for its skies may turn to gray.
I don't worry o'er the future for I know what Jesus said;
And, today, I'll walk beside Him for He knows what is ahead.
Many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand.
But, I know Who holds tomorrow, and I know Who holds my hand!
Every step is getting brighter as the golden stairs I climb.
Every burden's getting lighter; every cloud is silver-lined.
There the sun is always shining; there no tear will dim the eye.
At the ending of the rainbow where the mountains touch the sky.
Many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand.
But, I know Who holds tomorrow, and I know Who holds my hand!
I don't know about tomorrow; it may bring me poverty.
But, the One who feeds the sparrow is the One who stands by me.
And, the path that is my portion may be through the flame or flood,
But, His presence goes before me and I'm covered with His blood.
Many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand.
But, I know Who holds tomorrow, and I know Who holds my hand!
I love all of Ira Stanphill's songs, but I think my favorite would be "Suppertime." And from the way things are going lately, it looks like dinner's almost ready.

Guest repliedThe Solid Rock
"I Can Only Imagine" and "It is well" are two of my favorites. Here is another.
*****************************
THE SOLID ROCK
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus' Name.
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Lord I'm ready now
I'm waiting for Your triumphant return
You're coming so soon
This world has nothing for me
I find my peace and joy solely in You
Only in You
I want the world to see that
You're alive and living well in me
Let me be a part of the harvest
For the days are few
He's coming soon
People get ready Jesus is comin
Soon we'll be going home
People get ready Jesus is coming
To take from the world His own
There will be a day
When we will be divided right and left
For those who know Him
And those who do not know
Those who know Him well
Will meet Him in the air
Hallelujah
God is with us
Those who do not know
They will hear "Depart, I knew you not"
For my friends you see
There will be a day when we'll be counted
So know Him well, know Him well
People get ready Jesus is comin
Soon we'll be going home
People get ready Jesus is coming
To take from the world His own
People get ready Jesus is comin
Soon we'll be going home
People get readyJesus is coming
To take from the world His own

This one fills my heart today.
In Your Presence
I want to go where the rivers cannot overflow me
Where my feet are on a rock
I want to hide where the blazing fire cannot burn me
In Your presence, O God
In Your presence, that's where I am strong
In Your presence, O Lord my God
In Your presence, that's where I belong
Seeking Your face, touching Your grace
In the cleft of the rock
In Your presence, O God
I want to hide where the flood of evil cannot reach me
Where I'm covered by Your blood
I want to be where the schemes of darkness cannot touch me
In Your presence, O God
You are my firm foundation
I trust in You all day long
I am Your child and Your servant
And You are my strength and my song
You're my song

This is my area of ministry and I love this one!
Beams of heaven as I go
Through this wilderness below
Guide my feet in peaceful ways
turn my midnights into days
when in the darkness I would grope
Faith always sees a star of hope
and soon from all life's grief and danger
I shall be free someday
Often times my sky is clear
joy abounds without a tear
though a day so bright begun
clouds may hide tomorrow's sun
but they'll be a day that's always bright
a day that will never yield to night
and in it's light the street of glory
i shall behold someday
burden's now may crush me down
disappointment all around
trouble speak in mournful sigh
sorrow through a tearstained eye
but there is a world where pleasure reigns
no mourning soul shall roam its plains
and to that land of peace and glory
I want to go someday
I do not know how long twill be
nor what the future holds for me
but this I know if Jesus leads me
I shall get home someday

Time is filled with swift transition
Time is filled with swift transition
Not on earth unmoved can stand
Build your hopes on things eternal
Hold to GOD's unchanging hand
Trust in Him who will not leave you
Whatsoever years may bring
If by earthly friends forsaken
Still more closely to Him cling
Covet not this world's vain riches
That so rapidly decay
Seek to gain the heavenly treasures
They will never pass away
When your journey is completed
If to GOD you have been true
Fair and bright the home in glory
Your enraptured soul shall view
Hold to His hand
GOD's unchanging hand
Hold to His hand
GOD's unchanging hand
Build your hopes on things eternal
Hold to GOD's unchanging hand

Song: I Can Only Imagine Lyrics :
I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk
By Your side
I can only imagine
What my eyes will see
When Your face
Is before me
I can only imagine
{Chorus}:
Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for You Jesus or in awe of You be still
Will I stand in Your presence or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
When that day comes
And I find myself
Standing in the Son
I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever
Forever worship You
I can only imagine

It is Well!
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Refrain
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.
Refrain
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
Refrain
For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.
Refrain
But, Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!
Blessed hope, blessed rest of my soul!
Refrain
And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.
Refrain

we need a hymn right now
This was my Mother's favorite hymn. She went home to be with the Lord May 28 of this year and I miss her. Knowing she is with Jesus makes me smile...
HIS EYE IS ON THE SPARROW
http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/h/i/hiseyeis.htm
Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
Refrain
I sing because I’m happy,
I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.
“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
Refrain
Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
