Computer Virus!!

I do some very serious, continual maintenance on my 'puter. This morning? A virus. Somethings have come in the past and I easily to fairly easily have gotten rid of them. But THIS! ARRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Win32/Heur

Nothing I am doing or can find on trusted sites (e.g. cnet, pctools) can seem to fix it. It is wreaking havoc. I am afraid to open anymore programs as it seems to destroy each one opened. I want to start transferring files onto an external drive I have but I'm afraid to plug it into the 'puter. I am on another one that seems to be fine right now.

I just told my wife Friday, that next week; this week, I'm doing a full back up. UGH! Me thinks it is too late.

Beware! I've read this thing is VERY NASTY (I can attest). I have no idea through what it came.

Hi Issachar, What I do when some has this problem is to take out the infected drive and plug it into my spare puter via external drive and drag the files off and burn to disk. Then do a scan on it, easyer as its not active c:

Be VERY careful of the "scan for free" stuff out there. The vast majority of them are malware themselves. I don't know about this particular one, just wanted to put this caution out here as a general warning. "Free" is rarely really free, as most of us know. I can't tell you how many times I've had to clean systems of malware and it started off by telling the end user that they can have their drive scanned for free. Sounds harmless, right? GOTCHA!

Thank you Andy for putting this warning out here as I did not know this. I apologize. Please everyone ignore my post about the free scan. I thought the site mainly was telling how to remove the virus. I did not realize you had to allow them to scan your computer too.
