The End of MWM

Greetings all,

Letting everyone know that after somewhere around 28 years, when our annual hosting expires on 08/24/2025, Millennium Weekend Ministries we will not be renewing. Lack of interest for the past many years makes it clear to Esther and me that it does not make any sense to continue to keep the site running.

Many thanks to the handful of folks that have stuck it out with us. Perhaps very soon we shall all meet when we hear the glorious voice of our Savior calling us home to the Father's house. Certainly any who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ alone for their salvation, repenting with a "broken and contrite heart" (Ps 34:18 and 51:17) will find mercy and will indeed be caught up together to meet our Savior in the air.

What a glorious day that will be.

In Christ alone,
Andy

Now he is "demanding" money returned from the banks to the government because of "excessive" bonuses. What a joke. What a clown. I wonder if anyone actually believes his silliness? The total amount paid in bonuses to banking executives is such a fraction of a drop in the bucket of the money used to bailout the banks. Doesn't make it right to pay those huge bonuses when public funds are going to the banks, but my point is that this is just more claptrap from the executive branch to try and win back some popularity percentage points. It will probably work.

Of course the new fees on banks is a great idea too.
Which in turn will be a new fee on those of us who go to a bank....

I could almost agree on the paying it back if they don 't need it for expenses they were forced into by the gov't, but exactly where is it going when and if it's being paid back?
My gut questions the reasoning behind this. My pocketbook thinks it's all going to come from me.

I gotta admit I actually agree with Obama on this one. If they can pay big bonuses, they can pay the money back.

Wait a minute...what does this statement mean?
WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama told banks Thursday they should pay a new tax to recoup the cost of bailing out foundering firms at the height of the financial crisis. "We want our money back," he said.
Does this mean those banks that took the money to "so call" bail themselves out of trouble.....and have now paid back the money and are now doing well enough to give bonus's are now responsible for paying the money back for other banks that have not paid back their bailout money completely as of yet?

Maybe I am reading this wrong.

You're not misreading it abiding love. The whole thing is a sham. O is not interested, literally, in the LEAST about "getting money back". His lie is exposed by ALL other ways he touches the economy. He is merely furthering big government which will eventually lead to oppression. That is the socialist way and in it, he marches lock-step.

Bobby, if it were as simple as you stated, anyone would agree. I don't think you're seeing the bigger picture on this one. It's nothing to do with the bonuses ... unless of course, you believe him. But I don't think you do.

My deepest comment on this is that mankind is born in sin and lives through the desires of the flesh, unless born again and the old man is dead. We hear all the day long ... if one is inclined to listen to the radio that much ... about the evil of big government and how cool are businesses. The fact is, both are comprised of mostly lost sinners living in darkness and seeking to satisfy the desires of the flesh because that is all they know that will make them "happy". Who doesn't want to be happy? So they blunder ahead in their own ways; in their foolishness. There is the "world" and there is the Kingdom of God.

Re: Yet Another Obama Trick Talk

The whole system is messed up. Government should never have bailed failing institutions, they should not be taxed how they are, government should never be dictating who will do what; e.g. who can or cannot be CEO of GM ... we all know the list is long of shoulda, coulda, woulda's.

The real problem with the economy is debt. I don't remember who it was, but a month or two ago someone here asked me why debt was so bad. Debt requires servicing. The interest paid is obviously proportional to the debt level. The U.S. is now paying so much interest that it is borrowing a couple hundred billion dollars per year to just pay interest. Like I said somewhere else ... or at least thought it if I didn't say it ... doing that is like paying the interest due on a credit card with another credit card. It is an unsustainable system. It will change or collapse. There are no other options. Imo, it won't change until it has to; that is to say, after it collapses. No one wants to make the choice of change to soundness. I think most Americans don't even know what the debt levels are, how it affects them, why it affects them ... they just say, "Who cares? My life just goes on." Yes, for now. They will be the ones walking around wide eyed, gaping mouths, arms slightly out with palms up, saying, "How could this have happened?" when it does collapse. When? That is in God's purposes and he will determine that. But the system that the world lives by now is counter to the ways of God and therefore, cannot continue. The curve that plots disaster is exponential. It will change very, very fast at some point.

Just one example to show what such a curve might look like:

                  More "populist" claptrap.

This talk is the sort of thing that gets the pitchfork mobs in motion. Trust me; we don't want to see that. There would be a clampdown on this country so fast you wouldn't be able to finish saying, "What is happening?"

Articles like this (linked above) serve no purpose other than to rile. How much of the 145 billion is being paid by companies that did not take a bailout? Speaking of bailouts, what is one? If it's only a massive amount of public money going to keep these weasel firms afloat, then of course, that's a no no. But if it is that and not a loan, then O cannot demand the money returned. If it is a loan, then just let the companies pay it back on the monthly or quarterly terms that were determined at the time of the loan. If they can do that and at the same time, pay whatever amount for whatever they want, so be it. If they are buying new cars and houses INSTEAD of meeting monthly or quarterly payments, then garnish their wages. It's not a big deal ... lenders do that all the time.

There are those that say they HAD to be bailed out because otherwise too many folks; i.e. investors, would have been hurt. So? If someone wants to invest in some entity, it is their responsibility to determine if it is a sound investment. Is anyone upset with Joe Average investor that benefitted from the companies he was invested with, being bailed also? Or does the blame stop at the company; i.e. banks?

I say all of society is to blame. There are a LOT of "private" companies out there that are accepting handouts (NOT loans) from the government to develop better solar panels, windmills, and anything else "green". There are farmers taking subsidies from the taxpayer but no one complains about that. Untold BILLIONS of dollars go from taxpayers to non-public entities everyday, every day of the year, every year with nary a whisper of protest. But the media is used to set up these high profile targets for the public to throw their frustration at to make them feel like someone is doing something about this mess. They're not. No one is doing anything about the mess. They can't. The few who would, are marginalized and once marginalized, someone sticks a tinfoil hat on them.

                  Issachar, just thinkin' outloud ...
