Re: The health care bill has passed
So, is there still a chance it won't be law? I just saw this report about it needing to go through the senate next.

Re: The health care bill has passed
Dems have 60 seats in the 100-seat Senate. That gives them majority power. IF some of them balk, and IF the Repubs / Indies don't buy off, we're good.
House has 435 members, I think. That's why the vote was 220-215, if I read (scanned) the link of Drudge correctly.

Re: The health care bill has passed
The bill in the senate differs some but who knows what it will look like when this is all said and done. All I can say is we need to pray like never before that this fails. This bill could very well destroy our country not counting all the things coming down the pike, ie cap and trade, etc.
I just finished reading the article on the new NY congressman. In just 24 hours, he has broken 4 campaign promises one of which is that he would not support the healthcare bill but now suddenly he does. This just goes to show you they will boldly lie to your face to get what they want.

Re: The health care bill has passed
Okay, so it still has to be passed in the Senate.
Praying strongly that it will fail.....
I am a bit drowsy this morning, as I was woken up in the middle of the night by someone saying "well it passed..." What passed? "The healthcare bill." Oh, okay well I'll deal with it when I wake up in the morning. Usually when I'm talked to while sleeping, the dogs have done something. Here, I see it as the same thing.....

Re: The health care bill has passed
Actually, the House and Senate will now try to craft a compromise bill that both can agree on. The compromise bill is what will presumably go to Obama for signature.
There are two Senate bills that outline their plan for healthcare reform. S.1796 is the Senate Finance Committee version. Also we findAction on health reform now moves to the Senate, where a bill unveiled by Majority Leader Harry Reid, D.-Nev., is awaiting a cost analysis from the Congressional Budget Office. The Senate bill would let states opt out of the government-run "public option," but the overall Senate and House measures share broadly similar language.
It's very safe to say that neither a House bill or a Senate bill, will survive essentially intact. What we will get is a little bit of this, and a little bit of that, and a lot of stuff that will be hard to stomach.
Keep praying, folks.Last edited by PlumBob; 11-08-2009, 12:23 PM.
