The End of MWM

Greetings all,

Letting everyone know that after somewhere around 28 years, when our annual hosting expires on 08/24/2025, Millennium Weekend Ministries we will not be renewing. Lack of interest for the past many years makes it clear to Esther and me that it does not make any sense to continue to keep the site running.

Many thanks to the handful of folks that have stuck it out with us. Perhaps very soon we shall all meet when we hear the glorious voice of our Savior calling us home to the Father's house. Certainly any who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ alone for their salvation, repenting with a "broken and contrite heart" (Ps 34:18 and 51:17) will find mercy and will indeed be caught up together to meet our Savior in the air.

What a glorious day that will be.

In Christ alone,
Andy

This is a good concept, it'll be interesting to see how well it does and what genres are included. We use a media center PC that provides a level of customization/add-ins for things like commercial skip which has made a big difference for the limited programming we do watch. It's also really great since you can listen/watch podcasts from a variety of Christian ministries as well.

Regardless of the level of technology/configuration/customization one can throw at a solution most of the filtering is done at show selection and most TV is just not edifying. That's not surprising of course since it is most often generated to appeal to a lost world as well as influence behavior/norms of society.

You are so right in posting this----but I have noticed that not only the
media is detrimental to our children----Other chldren are too!
There is a five year old in my neighborhood---just moved in----I dont like the way he talks, thinks or behaves----and he wants to play with my grandson
I tell the little fellow that we are Jesus people and dont talk that way----
five years old----it is beyond me.

This is exactly what I point out to those that say "social interaction" is important when we talk to others about home schooling. People always assume such interaction is beneficial, but I contend is far more often detrimental given our social ecosystem today.

In our family this is a huge point of contention because my immediate family represents the only believers. What is most interesting is I have a sibling very close in age with the same family composition, but we do things almost entirely opposite. My parents won't confirm it, but I know they see a big difference in our children. That's not to say we are "parents of the year", but we certainly have the right foundation.

I was about to tell an old HS friend that, on his next response to me.
I look at those around me that are of similar age, and went to other schools, and I find out how blessed I was to go to a Christian one. I'm not still "searching" in life, I know where I am because of Christ. As for their morals...what morals? Great point Mason, which is another reason why parents should control what comes in their home. Children are too impressionable to let just anything come in, especially from the mind of someone in hollyweird.

Wow, this technology is great. Wish this was around when my kids were little. It's those pesky inappropriate commercials that bug me.

Our kids in public schools have it rough. My youngest daughter is now in her first year of community college, ugh. She has four classes and three of them have openly gay teachers. Just recently her male english teacher spoke freely on his sexual life with his partner in explicate detail. My daughter said it was so sickening.

Gay? Want to teach school? Fine..., but leave the bedroom conversations in the bedroom. This is not happening in our schools today.

Very good thread. Mason, if mentioned before, I missed it ... but congrats on the homeschooling. If/when the church at large, is structured more correctly, there will be zero reason for Christians to have their children in the nationalized government schools.

On behavior? Hey, biblical/godly discipline in a loving home is amazing. It is a tad frustrating when you're around undisciplined children and the parents observe your children and say, "Gee, it must be nice to have kids that were born so nice". Nope. They're born a little bundle of sin nature. Rebellion is bound in their heart. But the rod of corrrection will drive it far from them.

              Proverbs 22:
              15
*¶Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

I couldn't help, when I read this, to think about The Truth Project video. It so addresses all this. It would be great if you and your dauther could watch it together.

As good as it is, they've just come out with about the same thing in a format geared to teens through young adults. The whole thing is especially good for children in college. Here is a short promo for that one:

              Issachar
The church is on Earth to save souls from a lost world, not to save the world from lost souls.

Man learns about history, not from history. To learn from history requires wisdom. Cut off from God, he has none, so history repeats; no new thing under the sun.

I saw ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken - dylan

Psalms 122:8 For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.
