US President Barack Obama is expected to moderate a September meeting between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, President Shimon Peres said in an interview with Fox News Monday.
"Yes, I think they will meet by the end of September," he said. "President Obama will chair it, and I think that at least there is a chance that they will decide they are going to reopen negotiations. But that will not include Hamas."
The president's comments served as additional confirmation that the two leaders will likely meet late next month on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Both have expressed willingness to do so in recent statements.
