Spain Offers Obama Cooperation in Closing Guantanamo
The minister(Moratino s)said that Obama's arrival in the White House opens up a new stage in the relationship between the United States and Spain.
He emphasized that in both domestic and foreign policy, Obama and Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero have "very elevated elements of tuning and similarity."
The minister expressed his feeling that there will be a meeting between the two leaders in 2009, but he said it would be premature to discuss if the encounter would occur in the United States or in Spain.
The inauguration of Obama as president of the United States "opens an opportunity that we will not squander," Zapatero said Tuesday after watching the ceremony on television.
