  • Debit / Credit Card only at the Post Office

Don't know about your area but I used to go to the post office and put in coins or dollar bills to buy stamps, envelopes, etc. after hours.

The one closest to me has no machine any more. Just the interactive scale and must have debit / credit card (I went up there with only coin and cash that night).

I don't know if our Post Office does that. They sure are making it more difficult to use cash these days.

Yes they are. Soon they will have to change the laws and all printed U.S. currency because as it stands now, it is against U.S. law to not accept cash for any transaction. It says right on the money we use:

THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE

      (caps in original)

This is why technically it is illegal for a gas station to not take anything larger than a twenty, or for any business, public or private to not take cash.

      Issachar
The church is on Earth to save souls from a lost world, not to save the world from lost souls.

Man learns about history, not from history. To learn from history requires wisdom. Cut off from God, he has none, so history repeats; no new thing under the sun.

Ya, that was my experience the last two times I went into the U.S. Post Office to get stamps, the machine that takes cash was out of service, so I had to use the big machine that you can mail your own boxes from and buy stamps with my credit/debit card and that one won't take cash either.

Gosh, Issachar, changing the laws and all printed cash seems awfully radical.

We'll need a very liberal President to bring this about that you must use your debit/credit card to buy and sell.

Since he's liberal he'll see that no one is discriminated against so that those who have bad credit or no source of income should still have access to this debit/credit card so they can buy and sell...

Well, to make that work, we'll need a really liberal President to make the economy socialistic so that everyone has access to credit to buy and sell with this credit card no matter their economic status. But we might need to get rid of Capitalism for that, huh?

        It's already begun...

The one I go to for work, won't let you use a CC without it being signed on the back. The clerk looked at me (and knows me) and said that. I told him I don't sign the back of my card, so if stolen, the thieves won't know how I do my signature. Of course I get a blank stare, and I get the pitch again. To which I replied, "not signing my card is my rule and I do not break it for anyone."
I use cash ONLY for stamps now, at the teller spot.
I make them give me change by using cash.
I'm part of the gov't too buddy, I've been to jerk class as well. LOL

I am afraid we may see such a president come November, it seems the
media is afraid to mention anything negative about Obama.

I have been to the same class and it still comes out of me no matter
how hard I try....I guess working in goverment does that to us. Maybe
I can do better by the time I retire. I will have to check to see what
              our post office policy is.
