  • Congress is out of control

I don't know about you folks, but I have had it up to here with Congress.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ENERGY SAVER LIGHT BULBS!

Re: Congress is out of control

Rusty, I really really really enjoyed that!

My personal pet peeve with congress is that they don't have the fortitude to address energy realistically - but, like CFL light bulbs, they have made Daylight Savings Time a part of the national Energy Policy?? - Gimme a Break...

I am beginning to think that our "democratic" form of government isn't the best form after all. At least not with No Term Limits for spineless politicians.

There, I've said it and I'm glad!

I am glad to know with the problems we have with terriorism, sky rocketing
gas prices, the rising cost of food..... that our congress is kind enough to
tell us how to dispose of a light bulb...

I think democracy is still the best from of goverment... we just need
some leaders with common sense, if they ever had it they seem to
loose it when the enter the Capital Building.

ok, it's rare, but sometimes I laugh so hard at something I get tears in my eyes and my stomach hurts. I just watched that video. I don't know if the tears were from laughing so hard or crying because of how ridiculous congress can be. That man is one funny guy! They likely would've had to escort me out had I been there in person.

Like they say, the funniest things are things that are true.

          Thanks for posting.

I wonder if outlawing all lobbying would take care of this? I would venture to say that over 75% of all legislation is a result of lobbying.

ewwww .... Rusty, you went and brought up just about my biggest pet peeve. Lobbyists. THERE IS NO WAY THAT THEY SHOULD BE LEGAL! There are voters in this country that vote for the representatives in their district because they believe he will represent that district in Washington AC. That's the theory anyway. Enter the lobbyists. Representatives are wined and dined (I so wanted to put 'whined' there.) and ...... well, it's likely, but I won't say anything about payof ... err, gifts. So they end up representing these lobbyists. Now it just so happens that there are also lobbyists in Washington representing things that most of us on this board would agree with. Well, I don't think that is right either.

The whole system though is actually quite broken. Most folks don't even know who their representaitive is. Many don't even know who are the Senators from their state. It's rare to find someone in real life that actually listened to a political debate or even thought of making an assessment. It's difficult to run a democratic republic that way.

Term limits. Serious Term Limits! No one should be allowed to grow roots in an elected office.

The man giving this speech is Ted Poe, a man I highly respect as he is one of the most no nonsense and tell it like it is person in Congress.

He was a well respected Attorney and Criminal Judge for many years before running for Congress. I sat in his courtroom during jury selection for a criminal case, I did not get picked but I wished I would have so I could have been there in person during one of his sitting courts.

I have followed his career for many, many years and if he were running for President, I would be the first in line to vote for him. He is genuine and I pray that he is not corrupted by those who share Congressional seats with him and who have no ethics or morals.

I had seen this video earlier and my thoughts were, good job Congressman Poe, keep showing your fellow constituents just how ridiculous and "stuck on stupid" they are by wasting time on such drivel.

P.S. I am not a political person, per se. I have known my share of shoddy politicians who were friends of my family in Louisiana. If we had more men like Ted Poe running the country we would be in much better shape than we are now.

Dove, if you buy food, gas, clothing, and pay taxes, you ARE a political person, even if not by your own choosing. I am a believer that it is time for what was termed the "Silent Majority" to rise up and be heard.

I respectfully disagree. The above details can represent someone that is simply passing through and not in any way involved with the politics of the nation. One can survive (buy food, gas, clothing) and "render unto Caesar" without being any more involved in the political process. Jesus paid taxes but certainly didn't get involved in either the issues with Rome or the political problems in Jerusalem - just the spiritual ones...nor did any of the Apostles.
