  • Just a question

I have a question to ask.

I am wondering if there's something wrong with my soul.
Reason being...I don't have any compassion for those people that are killed by Israeli military strikes.

When I heard that the IDF killed 5 Hamas terrorists, my reaction was, "good!"

I know that I should not think that way. Those people are created in the image of God, just like I am.
I was fortunate enough to be born in a country where the Bible is readily available, and I wasn't indoctrinated from birth to seek the deaths of Jews.

    Anyone else feel this way?

It's a tough one. Sheik Yassin smirked like a chimp everytime Hamas' terrorists attacked in Israel since it was his "holy" war.

When he got nailed by a Hellfire missile, I gotta say, that was a good day.

Rantissi promised to take up his fight.

3 weeks later, he got nailed by a Hellfire as well.

I was glad to see that too. They attacked with virtual impunity.

I don't know what one can say without giving terrorists the freedom to kill.

      Ezekiel 33:
      11
*Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: ...

Humble, it is a feeling "of the natural man"; the flesh. As we walk with our Lord, He transforms us by the renewing of the mind.

      Romans 12:
      2
*And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

There are a multitude of movies that we (guys usually) love to watch; e.g. Charles Bronson, Clint Eastwood, ....... where the underdog is horribly picked on or abused in some way and then comes back ..... however it happens; the bad guy gets what's coming, and we cheer. That is the flesh. (I still like First Blood with Sylvester Stalone ... I think that is who starred in it.) )

If someone that is clearly "of the world", e.g. terrorists, and they rejoice over the death of someone or at least couldn't care less, then we know that is how we should not react. So if you do, it is merely one of the many things that our Lord will deal with in us.

      Issachar
The church is on Earth to save souls from a lost world, not to save the world from lost souls.

Man learns about history, not from history. To learn from history requires wisdom. Cut off from God, he has none, so history repeats; no new thing under the sun.

I saw ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken - dylan

Psalms 122:8 For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.

There are other verses that come to mind

        Psalm 58:10
The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.

        Proverbs 11:10
When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.

        Proverbs 29:2
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

and to be clearer on one of them, the NASB and NKJV pretty much agree

Proverbs 11:10 (New King James Version)

        10 When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices;
And when the wicked perish, there is jubilation.

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------

I mention these in light of terrorists who maim and kill. I don't mentioin this to throw stones. The terrorists certainly cannot go unchallenged.

I think that you put the question well in using the term "soul." I think of the soul as our human/fallen nature. Our Spirit, however, is regenerated through the Blood of Christ. We are only human, and are working toward being transformed daily into more of the image of Jesus--it will never happen completely. However, the very fact that you ask the question, imho, shows that you are developing the "mind of Christ."

            I appreciate the responses.

I'm leaning on the side of trying to be more compassionate towards those that hate, but I know that it's something that I won't be able to change by myself.

              Re: Just a question

Loving the sinner but hating the sin. Being angry at Satan for the options he gave others. Allowing the Holy Spirit to remind me of these things, when my flesh tries to rise.
