End of WeDG

Hi all,
Due to well over two years of a clear lack of interest in this board, I will be closing it when the hosting is up next month (24 Aug). I see no reason to continue this with the lack of readership and participation.

It's been a wonderful 27+ years, with tons of ups and downs, but with all the excellent resources available to us online via Telegram, YouTube and other platforms - we've outgrown our purpose. I do not believe any huge modification/improvements to the site would help, plus that has always been way beyond my knowledge/skill set.

Y'all know how to reach me.

    Rev 17:9-10
9 And here [is] the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, [and] the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.

Rev 17:9 is referring back to Rev 17:3 and explains that the 7 heads are 7 mountains.

    Rev 17:3
3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet colored beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

The seven heads of the beast, are the seven mountains. The seven heads of the beast, and thus the seven mountains, are:

    1. Egypt
    2. Assyria
    3. Babylon
    4. Persians and Medes
    5. Greece
    6. Rome
    7. The 10 horns

A mountain is another symbol used for a kingdom.

The same thing we find in Daniel 2.

    Dan 2:35
35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

So, in my opinion the 7 mountains are not referring to the seven hills the city of Rome is supposed to be built on, but it is referring to 7 kingdoms.

    Now back to Rev 17:9.

    Rev 17:9
9 And here [is] the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.

Is the woman, Rome sitting on the 7 kingdoms?

Babylon as well as Rome is one of the 7 heads, one of the 7 mountains.

A thought that crosses my mind is that the woman is "Babylon, which is above". The Bible does not use such an expression for Babylon, however it is called "Mystery Babylon" and the Bible does speak about a Jerusalem, which is above and which is our mother.
For the 7 mountains to be spiritual mountains instead of physical mountains then Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persians and Medes, Greece, Rome and the 10 horns would all have to be ruling the world when John was given the Revelation. How is that possible?

Not necessarily. In Daniel 2, we read about an image. The fact that gold, silver, brass, iron, clay, are all seen at one time, and as one image, does not mean that they all are ruling the world at the same time either.

The one that ruled the world when John was given the Revelation was Rome not any of the other countries.

Agree. However from the context we learn that the 7 mountains and the 7 heads are the same. Do you believe the 7 heads of the beast are 7 literal mountains?

No, in this case I suspect they are leaders, kings, PM's, cardinals, etc.

After all the Jewish year is only at 5768[/B].
Ive read that the Jewish calendar is actually off as their was a miscalculation regarding the timing between the 1st and 2nd Temples due to a misreading of Daniel 9 that there were 490 years between the tragic events, rather than 656, and introduced a 166-year error.

Also, A scribe error in the Septuagint text of the genealogies of Genesis 5 left out another 73 years.
which would make a total discrepancy of 239 years. So the actual year would be 6007.
I believe it was in an article by Charles Swindoll, whether its true or not I dont know.
