A Developing Storm Off the Southeast U.S. Coast

A surface low located near 29 north and 75 west continues to slowly organize in response to an upper-level trough moving off the east coast. The upper-level trough will swing eastward off the Southeast coast farther tonight forcing the surface low to drift east. The low is expected to become better organized and could become a stronger storm system tomorrow and tomorrow night as it moves slowly eastward. This storm might be more of a hybrid system at first as it remains sheared by the upper-level trough. The upper-level trough will lift northeast on Thursday. At the same time, a large surface high building across the northeast United States will expand southward cause the low to stop moving east on Thursday then force the low to move west or west-northwest Thursday night and Friday. This will be a cause for concern along the Carolina coast and perhaps farther north later in the weekend through early next week. As the system moves west or northwest, it will probably become a well organized tropical system and could become a storm and even a hurricane. A consensus of the various computer models suggests a track toward the Carolina coast on Friday and Saturday. However, since this system has not even formed yet, there are several options with this system. So, residents along the Florida and southeast U.S. coast should continue to keep an eye on this developing system.

Keep an eye on this one if you're on the east coast.
