Earthquake warning for Israel Jordan Valley:

    http://www.jpost.com/Israel/Article.aspx?id=166955

Folks there is an earthquake coming soon to Israel but it will be a lot stronger than 7.0 IMHO. When I was at BetShean last October I overheard one of the local guides mention that "experts are unanimous in agreement that a killer quake will hit the region in the next 10 years". Oh by the way, the BetShean area is right beside the Mountains of Israel. Sounds just like Ezekiel 38.

Re: Ezekiel 36 and the Mountains of Israel Part IV

What was meant to be a general debate on the Middle East turned into a diplomatic onslaught on Wednesday night as the United Nations' top body took aim at Israeli policies in east Jerusalem.

France and the United States were among several nations to voice support for Assistant Secretary-General Oscar Fernandez-Taranco, who opened the Security Council session with heavy criticism of Israeli house demolitions in the Arab-populated eastern half of Jerusalem.
Nor did Israel's closest ally, the United States, shy away from criticism. Alejandro Wolf, the second most senior American delegate at the UN, told the assembled diplomats that the U.S. opposed all settlement building in east Jerusalem and condemned house demolitions.

This article is not good news. Not good at all.

Olmert's negotiator: Full Mideast peace impossible
By Aluf Benn and Barak Ravid

"I do not believe that in the foreseeable future there is a possibility of an agreement with the Palestinians on all the issues, especially on the problematic core issues," says Udi Dekel, who headed the negotiations task force in the previous government.

Dekel spoke on Thursday at a conference on the unofficial "Geneva Initiative" peace plan. Other participants included many members of the diplomatic corps.

He was highly critical of the negotiating tactics of former prime minister Ehud Olmert and his Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni in their dealings with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and the head of his negotiating team, Ahmed Qureia.

"The biggest mistake was that everything was based on the premise that nothing is agreed until everything is agreed," Dekel said. "We thought at the time that this could provide the necessary flexibility in the negotiations, but in practice, every time someone showed flexibility, the other side tried to pin him down. Therefore, I suggest that the model be changed and that whatever is agreed is implemented."

According to Dekel the Palestinians refused to show any flexibility in their positions during the talks, preferring to remain stalemated rather than lower their aspirations.

"The Palestinian approach was in principle the demand of 100 percent of their rights from 1967. The practical aspect interested them less. They are not willing to discuss any further compromise," he said. "We tried to build scenarios, some of them were imaginary, about specific compromises, but we found the Palestinians taking an approach of 'all or nothing.'"

Dekel said that agreement was reached on the need to reach full accord and that four stages toward that end had been determined. He said that American involvement, which intensified as time went on, encumbered the negotiations.

"So long as the two sides negotiated, there was some progress. The minute (Secretary of State Condoleezza) Rice's teams went into the details the two sides barricaded themselves behind their basic positions, and instead of the negotiations progressing, they regressed," Dekel said. "The Palestinians understood that the Americans were closer to their position on the issues of Jerusalem, the borders and security, and opted to wait it out."

Dekel said at Thursday's conference that in spite of the difficulty in achieving a settlement the need for a change in the situation was urgent.

He proposed adoption of a plan floated by Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad under which the focus would be the swift establishment of a Palestinian state, with borders and security the first issues to be negotiated.

"The rest would be discussed in parallel but the establishment of a state would not be conditional on an overall agreement," Dekel said. "The two sides are not ready for this at the moment and we should not believe that there is a way to get the sides to understand that this is the only relevant solution in this time frame."

Dekel maintains that Israel's position in the negotiations was meant to include within its territory as many settlers as possible.

"On the issue of security we are talking, first and foremost, on defensible borders. And when we look at the maps, in the end we evaluate the borders on the basis of how many residents we will not have to move from their homes and the defensible borders issue becomes of secondary importance."

He added that the Palestinians came to the negotiations more prepared than the Israelis and were ready with drafts of their proposals while his staff were lacking notes from past negotiating rounds.

"When I went to look for the material from the year 2000 [from Camp David talks and Taba] we could find anything. It seems as though someone made sure it disappeared. That is why we restarted collecting the material, and were assisted by documents from the Geneva Convention," Dekel said.

Responding to Dekel, Shaul Arieli, who coordinated the negotiating task force a decade before him, said that when his teams ended their activity in 2000 they lodged all the relevant documents with the national archive and the prime minister's office.

"Therefore," Arieli said. "If you did not find the material, then someone worked very, very hard, for the material to disappear."

Interesting statement in this AP article. It would seem Russia and the US have been working together for months on this project.

The plain truth is the Palestinians and the whole Arab world are saying(and I do stress saying) they would be happy with exactly what the world is offering under the roadmap, pre 67 with Jerusalem as it's capital but the Israeli's aren't. The world hasn't changed it's position since the beginning of Israel so there is no reason they are about too change that position for Israel now.
I have to wonder when or what will push the world over the line. Everything seems to indicate it will be the Iran issue and the threat of war that will cause them to lose patience with Israel.

Re: Ezekiel 36 and the Mountains of Israel Part IV

Here is a cross post of an article link by CNAV:

                  http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/135844

Dmitri Ziliani, a spokesman for the Jerusalem division of Fatah, confirmed to the news outlet that the PA holds regular official meetings in Jerusalem in anticipation of a future PA state that would encompass the eastern portion of the city. Ziliani was quoted by WND as saying, “Our political program, as Fatah, dictates that there will be no Palestinian state if these areas – all of east Jerusalem – are not included.” Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad also insists that no Jews be permitted to live within the state he envisons and has demanded that Israel forcibly remove the more than 315,000 Jews who make their homes in Judea and Samaria.

HSB: we suspect that a final peace deal will allow big blocks of settlements like Maale Adumin and Ariel to remain in Israel (attached by long umbilical cords). The amazing thing to me is that the world seems to consent to all other Jews being removed from the rest of the new PA state. Clearly they will not move...and the insistence that they be "forcibly" removed will trigger a major war. If in doubt read Ezekiel chapter 36!

Comments from someone like this are considered with respect. They must be pushing heavily on the world leaders to move to the next stage.

Jordan's King Abdullah said on Sunday that solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict could lead to Iran giving up its nuclear weapons program.

"If we solve the Israeli-Palestinian problem, why would Iran want to spend so much money on a nuclear program? It makes no sense," Abdullah said in a CNN interview with correspondent Fareed Zakaria aired on Sunday.

Bennie Begin: ‘We will never relinquish Temple Mount'

Minister-without-Portfolio Bennie Begin, speaking Monday at a gathering in Jerusalem, said that the city’s status as the capital of Israel has been undermined over the last few years.

“Far ranging plans have been put on the negotiating table, not only in east Jerusalem, but proposals have been made for Israel to relinquish Jewish sovereignty over Temple Mount, the Mount of Olives, and the City of David,” said Begin.

Begin went on to say that “in the name of the Israeli government, such proposals and ones like them will not be considered under any condition.”

                      http://www.jpost.com/Headlines/Article.aspx?id=168794

What I always find interesting about his comments is the fact of who he is.

Ze'ev Binyamin (Benny) Begin, (Hebrew: זאב בנימין "בני" בגין‎, born 1 March 1943) is an Israeli geologist and politician. A member of the Knesset for Likud, he is the son of former Prime Minister of Israel Menachem Begin.

                      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benny_Begin

But also he has been called Bibi's closest confidant.

Same subject but includes important statement ...

Minister-without-portfolio Ze'ev Binyamin (Benny) Begin said on Monday night that "Jerusalem, completely under Israeli sovereignty, will not be divided again." Representing the government at the Jerusalem Conference on behalf of Information and Diaspora Minister Yuli-Yoel Edelstein, who accompanied Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to Russia, Begin said that access must be given members of all religions to all parts of the capital, but to insure this, Jerusalem must be under the exclusive sovereignty of the state of Israel.

                        http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1149956.html

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Monday dismissed Palestinian claims that the Obama administration had rescinded on its demand for Israel to halt activity in West Bank settlements.

"Our position is that settlement activity is illegitimate, and that the final resolution of borders has to be worked out that will give both sides, the Israelis and the Palestinians, the secure borders that they deserve to have," Clinton told Al Jazeera during a visit to Doha.

"It will be based, as I have said many times, on the 1967 lines, with the agreed swaps, and taking into account subsequent developments," she said. "Those are the very clear parameters that the United States believes that the parties should negotiate over.

Saudi Arabia on Monday played down suggestions it could encourage China not to block sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program by giving Beijing oil supply guarantees.
Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal said after talks with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that Beijing needed no prodding from Riyadh over how to deal with Iran in the UN Security Council

Saudi official: Freeze settlements rather than impose sanction on Iran
There is no point in our spending all our time on sanctions which will not have an effect in the short term. We need something more tangible," he said, asking not to be identified. "We need to do something on Israel and the Palestinians ... For instance, the US could get Israel to halt (Jewish) settlements" on the occupied West Bank, the official said

SAT: these are good finds. The pressure is mounting. I have a map from a Haaretz paper I picked up in Jerusalem in January 2001 that shows the boundary line that Clinton and Barak were proposing to Arafat back then. Really interesting!!! I do not know how to post a jpeg that is presently on my laptop. Anybody help?
